My time across the ocean has came to an end. I met some brilliant people and had an absolute blast. I'm glad I had the chance to do something wonderful.

Final Fantasy X
Ok so this is made quite shitly, but I bought a friend Final Fantasy X since he was getting into it so much and decided to make a different cover for it in the style of an old book cover. Its basically a rip off of Olly Moss' work. Oh well.
Labels:
book,
final fantasy,
Olly Moss,
Tidus,
video games

Nothing to report.
Relatively quiet week work wise as I battle with my essay and get ready for the exhibition. I did however use some work to redesign an old video game cover for TwtrArtJam.

Odd Post
I've been in a bit of an odd mood the past couple of days and for some reason I can't quite put my finger on why. As a result of this I've spent the last 48 hours in my room with thoughts whirling through my head and I've gotten no further forward on putting myself right so to speak. Until I spent all night re-reading "Running With Scissors" by Augusten Burroughs. There is one paragraph in it that has summed everything up for me. In an odd kind of way.
"For exactly the same reason, it is sometimes satisfying to cut yourself and bleed. On those gray days where eight in the morning looks no different from noon and nothing has happened and nothing is going to happen and you are washing a glass in the sink and it breaks - accidentally - and punctures your skin. And then there is this shocking red, the brightest thing in the day, so vibrant it buzzes, this blood of yours. That is okay sometimes because at least you know you're alive."

Old Photos, Old Faces
Sorry for the photo overload. I found a bunch of old photos on my mac while I was cleaning it up this afternoon. Without getting too sentimental I had a really nice time at that part of my life. Thats not to say I'm not enjoying it now, I just have a lot of fond memories from the past couple of years.
Strange Little Girls
I've been slowly making my way through Neil Gaiman's "Fragile Things". I tend not to read as much as I used to but that fact that its a book of short stories means I can pick it up and read a story whenever. I recently read the stories he made for "Strange Little Girls", an album by Tori Amos. I guess this is kind of inspired by herself and Gaiman, as well as a bit of a bash at new drawing techniques.

Mug Painting
It's a monster!
I tried my hand at screen printing this week. I've never done it before so my attempts proved as a steep learning curve and fun experience! I drew the picture with photocopier toner and water before printing it. I think I under-developed my screen or something but I'm kind of happy with it. Just in time for Valentine's Day...

Pencil Pryde
We have a rather fun drawing week going on at the moment. Requiring the group to reflect upon their drawing styles and further develop this by producing a final drawing in whatever medium they wish. While this is not my final drawing (much the contrary since this is my first) it is a lot different to the way I usually draw. Lately I have became incredibly bored with my personal way of drawing because it was so "samey", and as a result of this I felt I wasn't developing as an artist. So I am trying to teach myself to draw again by just letting go.
Something else that occurred to me was that since leaving sixth form when I was 18, I hadn't used only pencils for a drawing once. In 2 years I'd used them for sketching and nothing else. It wasn't until today I truly realised how nice they are to draw with.

Tentacles and Men...
A collaboration piece done with Olafur:
I just did the lines for it really. I fucking love the colours on it though.
